Day 18 which was our second full day in Quebec city.

Yay! the day broke with overcast skies but no rain. After a delicious breakfast of honey soaked pecan & maple syrup covered french toast, fresh fruit & of course coffee we headed off to the farmer's market along the water front. Lots of bright colours & fresh veggies & fruit. We bought strawberries & maple syrup. Then walked along the water front heading back to our hotel to drop off our purchases.

Another view out our window. I never grew tired of sitting in the window & looking out. The hotel was in an old building so the window sills were very wide,
There is a road like this in St John's NL

The Market

Walking through the lower part of the old city. These streets are the oldest in the country.

When we saw the cannons & how this one lined up Peter couldn't resist taking the picture. I am not much of a crowd person so the shear mass of people at times was overwhelming.

t
Interesting sign. I think these may have been the washrooms a friend told me about that are multi stalled with both men & women using them at the same time. I never went in to check them out.

Lots of people. Great stores but very expensive.

At this point Peter wanted to sit down & have a coffee. I just wanted to see what was around the corner. He could have waited for me, I would have come back but he followed me up these stairs.

Around this corner

Before we knew it we were in the upper city. We walked a little farther & could see our hotel in the lower  city.
So we finally sat & treated ourselves to a piece of great chocolate bark we had bought in the lower city.
We headed back down to the lower city to look for a place to have supper.

Me thinks we bumped into Mary Poppins. There where street performers everywhere. It was so much fun to stop & watch or listen to them then leave them a little something as a thank you.

Well we ended up back at the place we had dinner on the first night. The food was excellent & not too expensive.

I wanted to go back up to the upper city after dark so I could see everything lit up so off we went. We used the Funicular this time instead of the stairs & the road, to Peter's great relief. It was cold but actually not raining.

There was a person playing a saxophone in this area. We had heard in many times in the last two days. Every time I hear a sax I think of my son Greg. It makes me miss him even more. He is living in BC & I haven't seen him since last Christmas. We stood & listened for a while then as we were walking back to the Funicular we stopped in the shadow of the statue of Champlain & dance a few Rumba steps. We have come a long way in the last 14 months. We were taking Rumba dance lessons when the accident happened. We never made our last lesson but that evening in Old Quebec we danced in the twinkle of the lights under the eye of Champlain & I think I saw him smile.

Enough for tonight. Goodnight & Happy Thanksgiving. There is much I am thankful for!
